Author Tina Stubbs
Hi Everyone,

Please, let me introduce myself, I'm Tina Stubbs an award-winning Author and Illustrator behind 'Life's Little Bugs', and I am very excited to be invited as Patron of Reading (PoR) at Streatley School.

My role aims to encourage you to enjoy the joys of reading further and help you discover the incredible benefits that go with it!

We will be exploring how reading books can open up your imagination and stretch your knowledge, enrich your vocabulary and allow you to learn many incredible things.

Please use this page to keep in touch and see what fun things we've planned for you.

I will share and showcase your work and illustrations on here to give you a little taste of having your work on display, not unlike an Author or Illustrator.

Alongside this we will have competitions and discounts.

So don't miss out and keep a lookout!

Tina and life's little bugs characters

Here is a bit of background on me...

I set out with a goal to develop a series of picture books that motivate young readers to learn good healthy habits in a positive, fun way.

As a parent, I realised there wasn't anything engaging to help encourage and support parents, teachers and kids when building essential life skills. Necessary skills, such as brushing teeth, hand washing, healthy choices, showing respect, kindness and a growth mindset, to mention a few.

I used my London Art College diploma in Children's Illustration to design the Life's Little Bugs characters and translate them into colourful book illustrations.

The books went on to achieve Gold from a popular parenting site. Later that year, I was invited to Pinewood film studios to collect the prestigious 2017 'Sylvia Anderson Children's Author' award.

Introduction to Life's Little Bugs new outdoor learning programme
By Tina Stubbs July 20, 2020
We’ve taken Life’s Little Bugs ethos outside to teach children respect, self-care, and healthy living in nature. Lockdown has bought awareness of many things, with around 70% of us living in urban areas, our parks and green spaces have never felt so important for our mental & physical health.
Linda Beckett and her book Where's Arty?
By Linda Beckett April 9, 2020
Having studied with the Open University for six years, Linda attained an Honours degree in Psychology. This enabled her to become a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society. She is also a member of the Society of Authors and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Linda has a keen interest in Mental Health issues, particularly where these issues are affecting children of primary school age, and this is why she wrote her book. Inspired by tales of woodland animals told to her by her father as a child, Arty the Bear was created.
Hands being washed.
By Tina Stubbs March 31, 2020
Washing hands has become a new mantra. Life's Little Bugs has always encouraged this healthy habit through our books and workshops. Unfortunately, the current Covid-19 crisis has highlighted the importance of this daily practice, even more so. Understanding we have to be mindful when educating children, so as not to trigger OCD tendencies, I have written this simple blog to outline when and how to wash hands.

Magical story book scene
By Tina stubbs January 13, 2020
One of the most amazing things to give is the gift of reading and the love for books. If like me, you are an avid reader, then you are aware of the places it can take you and the escape it can offer from your normal every day. But it can also be a very powerful tool to open up discussions with children and a way to communicate when other methods have failed. Relating through examples in a book or using the characters to talk through can be a great way to get the point across or explain a delicate subject. The results can be very potent!
Piggy bank to save money
By Tina Stubbs December 11, 2019
One of the most helpful habits we can teach our children is to value and respect money and learn how to save and invest. In this digital world of touch cards and cash on tap, it is easy to understand why children expect instant gratification when purchasing and not getting to grips with patience and saving. No wonder debt is such a massive problem to so many. Again teaching the basics through education can only benefit for their financial future. Metro Bank offers a great workshop to do just this, and it's free! A no brainer for schools!
